WHAT IS PROFHILO®?

Profhilo is a revolutionary new non-surgical skin laxity treatment to address facial lines and wrinkles, but also skin laxity, improving tone, texture and hydration. The treatment is aimed at patients who have visible signs of ageing skin. For Profhilo® to be effective you have to have a course of three treatments. If you are under 45 with good skin elasticity, two treatments of Profhilo® may suffice.

 

As we age, our skin produces less collagen and elastin. Collagen and elastin are the building blocks which make up plumped up healthy skin. Profhilo® uses advanced patented technologies to help remodel the skin. It is made of Hyaluronic Acid (HA).

SO, WHAT EXACTLY IS HYALURONIC ACID AND WHY IS IT SO BENEFICIAL?

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring, gel-like substance in our skin which acts like a sponge. It is holding in moisture and making our skin appear plump, smooth and hydrated. Unfortunately, as we get older the body slows down its production of this vital ingredient. This results in a visible loss of firmness, pliability and suppleness.

So, it’s no surprise that the cosmetic industry is seeking ways to replenish and restore the skin by adding hyaluronic acid to creams, serums and treatments.

Profhilo® effectively stimulates the production of natural collagen and elastin to re-energise and renew the skin. It stimulates four different types of collagen and elastin due to the slow release of hyaluronic acid, and it is this stimulation that results in significant improvement of tissue quality. Profhilo®, at present, is the only product capable of stimulating the natural production of all four types of collagen and elastin, making it truly unique.

Compared to dermal fillers, Profhilo® enhances stem cell reproduction. It restores both skin and fat layers to their natural state and stimulates the body to produce four collagen types. Unlike dermal fillers it does not provide volume. Profhilo® can also be used in a number of areas, where fillers are unsuitable such as body areas.

 

HOW DOES IT WORK?

A skin laxity treatment, Profhilo® uses patented technologies engineered for ‘skin remodelling’, a revolutionary concept of ‘curling’ wrinkles rather than ‘filling’ them. It effectively stimulates production of both your natural collagen and elastin to renew your skin from within. Taking as little as 10 minutes to complete, this hyaluronic acid treatment works by stimulating 4 different types of collagen and elastin due to the slow release of hyaluronic acid, and it is this stimulation that results in significant improvement of tissue quality.

Rather than replacing volume or creating a volumetric lift like other dermal fillers Profhilo® is able to create volume in the tissue where it is needed due to its high spread ability.

Profhilo® will result in significantly noticeable skin tightening and give you a lifting effect between your cheek and chin in just 12 weeks (you will see a gradual improvement throughout). We advise that you have three treatments four weeks apart.

AM I A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR PROFHILO®?

We start losing a significant amount of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid after we reach 30, and it is at this age that we start to consider preventative treatments.

​

This is the time when many people consider their first anti-wrinkle injections as the first lines start to appear. If you feel your facial tissue quality has dropped significantly, and that you may look older for your age, but are not ready for dermal fillers yet, Profhilo® may be the best treatment for you. There is no age upper limit either. In fact, in older patients, we have often seen more dramatic results. However, if you’re over 60 your treatment does need to be managed carefully – for example, if there are deep folds present or the skin has lost elasticity, then combination treatments that include Profhilo® may be more suitable.

If you’re looking for very subtle results, this treatment delivers. However, if you’re looking for a lifting of the face, neck or any other area, then a combination approach with fillers or threads could be recommended.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM TREATMENT?

A numbing cream is applied to the area to make the treatment more comfortable. Profhilo® diffuses within the tissue after injection and over a period of 4 weeks it stimulates 4 different types of collagen and elastin. It doesn’t need to be massaged and leaves no nodules. Due to its ability to spread, only 5 injection points on each side of the face are needed, which means many of our patients find this treatment more comfortable than others

 

After treatment there may be some redness at the injection site and you may experience some tingling/itching, tenderness and swelling in the treated area. This will generally disappear within 24-hours.

​

Results can be immediate. Clients have noticed visible, natural-looking yet noticeable rejuvenation of the areas treated straight away after treatment. Increased firmness, elasticity and an overall improved quality of the skin can be visible for up to six months’ post-treatment.

​

Profhilo® is not to be used on individuals with a known hypersensitivity to hyaluronic acid or who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

​

For best results we recommend injecting 6ml of Profhilo®, 2ml in the initial treatment and a further 2ml monthly for two months. In some cases, where the signs of ageing are more extreme, you may require up to 8ml of product spread over 4 treatments.

​

Hyaluronic acid is completely broken down within the skin leaving no trace. To keep the results a maintenance treatment every six months is necessary.

​

You can have Profhilo® treatment and continue with your day to day activities.

​

We recommend that you do not apply makeup or go to the gym, sauna, steam-room or go swimming on the same day as treatment. You should also avoid touching the injection site.

WHAT AREAS CAN BE TREATED?

Profhilo® is most commonly used for facial areas but can also effectively be used for rejuvenating the neck, decollate, arms, knees and hands. Increasingly, the neck is becoming a popular area to have Profhilo®, due to its ability to help reduce crepe-like skin and sagginess and encourage a firmer appearance.
