ANTI WRINKLE INJECTIONS
HOW DOES BOTOX WORK?
Small doses of Botulinum Toxin (Botox) is injected with a fine needle into the affected area. This temporarily paralyses underlying muscles responsible for wrinkling, giving the face a more relaxed appearance. The wrinkles become smoother or disappear altogether.

RECOVERY AND EFFECTS?
The initial effects of treatment become visible within 3 to 4 days. The maximum effect is reached in approximately 3 weeks. Your facial expression will become more relaxed but by no means mask-like. The overall result is very natural.
The effect of treatment generally lasts for 3 to 4 months. Once the effects start to decrease you can return to the practice to consult with our practitioner if you wish to maintain your new youthful look.

PRE-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS

-
Avoid excessive alcohol or medically necessary blood thinning medication before the treatment to prevent bruising.
-
Avoid herbal supplements such as Ginko, green tea and anti-inflammatories of any kind for 2 weeks following treatment to limit bruising.

AFTERCARE INFORMATION

-
For the first 4 hours following Botox, remain upright and periodically perform gentle facial movements in the areas of injections to work the Botox into the muscle - e.g., smile, squint, etc.
-
No rubbing or massaging of the injected area for 48 hours, including facials and any facial treatments.
-
Do not participate in activities that include heavy lifting, vigorous exercise, or strenuous activities for 4 hours (it takes approximately 4 hours for Botox to bind to the nerve and you do not want to increase circulation during that time). Ideally no strenuous exercise for 24 hours after treatment.
-
Avoid headwear that is tightly fitted across the forehead.
-
Avoid excessive alcohol or medically necessary blood thinning medication to prevent bruising.
-
Do not take Ibuprofen, aspirin, or vitamin E for 24 hours after injection.
-
Try to avoid Make-up to prevent unwanted bacteria to the area treated but if this isn’t possible it may be applied gently, remember to wipe up and away from your eyes or brows.
-
Avoid using Irritating products (i.e., retinols, hyaluronic acid) for 24 hours following Botox.
-
If your upper lip was treated you will not be able to drink through a straw, whistle, or enunciate some words for approximately 2 weeks.
-
Bruising in the area injected is normal and often expected, especially if treated around the eyes. Bruising can last up to several weeks. Arnica may help diminish bruising.
